Tzu Chi University Collaborates with Pinghe Junior High School to Hold “Shine Bright Together” English Camp

花蓮縣慈濟大學師培中心與平和國中合作5月25日辦理「E起成為最亮的★」英語營,基於共榮共好的理念,不僅平和國中學子參與了這個成長的營隊,也邀請了富源國中和志學國小的學生,一起來共樂共學,共同體驗多元豐富的英語學習課程!  

The Teacher Training Center of Tzu Chi University in Hualien County collaborated with Pinghe Junior High School to host the “E Together Become the Brightest Star” English Camp on May 25th. Based on the concept of mutual prosperity and mutual benefit, not only did students from Pinghe Junior High School participate in this growth camp, but students from Fuyuan Junior High School and Zhixue Elementary School were also invited to join. Together, they enjoyed learning and experienced a diverse and enriching English learning program!

當天風和日麗,微風吹拂,是個舒適的週六假期,也是歡樂學習的好時光!慈濟大學副校長何縕琪帶領慈大師培生、慈中學生及外籍教師來到平和國中,平和國中26位、富源國中9位及志學國小13位學生,一起在周末共學。

The weather was beautiful that day, with a gentle breeze blowing, making it a comfortable Saturday holiday and a great time for joyful learning! Vice President of Tzu Chi University, Dr. Yun-Chi Ho, led Tzu Chi University interns, Tzu Chi High School students, and foreign teachers to Pinghe Junior High School. There, 26 students from Pinghe Junior High, 9 students from Fuyuan Junior High, and 13 students from Zhixue Elementary School gathered for a weekend of collaborative learning.

透過教學設計,學生在營隊課程中不知不覺就會想辦法用英語來回答。平和國中學生杜宥恩、張芊媃和拉木東竹覺得透過各種寓教於樂的方式,大家在一起進行團隊遊戲,在各種模擬情境中,嘗試用英語的語言邏輯來進行猜謎,或是解決問題,讓學生在遊戲情境中,不僅是願意想要說英文,也開始思考如何說,最重要的是,能夠勇敢開口說!葉暑、簡以理和黃士軒則對數位學習的融入特別有感,科技應用讓他們的學習變得有趣,但也體會到數位載具可以幫助他們學習,但不能完全依賴,手寫也會協助思考讓印象深刻。

Through instructional design, students in the camp course unconsciously strive to answer in English. Pinghe Junior High School students Du You-en, Zhang Qian-ru, and La Mu Dong Zhu feel that through various edutainment methods, participating in team games, and engaging in various simulated scenarios, they try to use English logic to solve puzzles or problems. This encourages students not only to be willing to speak English in game situations but also to start thinking about how to say it. Most importantly, it encourages them to speak up bravely! Ye Shu, Jian Yi-li, and Huang Shi-xuan are particularly impressed with the integration of digital learning. The application of technology makes their learning interesting, but they also realize that while digital devices can aid their learning, they should not be completely reliant on them. Handwriting also helps in thinking and makes a lasting impression.

平和國中校長葉淑貞很感謝慈大師培、慈中的大哥哥大姊姊以及外籍教師,陪伴平和國中以及各校的孩子們體驗學習,讓孩子對於開口說英語不再有莫名的恐懼,這就是英語營最棒的學習收穫了!

Principal Shu-Chen Yeh of Pinghe Junior High School is very grateful to the Tzu Chi University teachers, the older brothers and sisters from Tzu Chi, and the foreign teachers for accompanying the students of Pinghe Junior High School and other schools in their learning experience. This has helped the children overcome their irrational fear of speaking English, which is the greatest achievement of the English camp!
